With the war against the so-called Islamic State ending, many displaced people are now returning to the ruins of their homes in north-eastern Iraq. They are often in great debt and have no funds with which to rebuild their lives. The COVID-19 crisis is making their situation even worse. Through this project, Welthungerhilfe supports farmers by repairing irrigation systems, for example, or providing women with new equipment and seeds. At the same time, this opportunity is also being used to share technical knowledge and to offer advice on healthy nutrition.
