Creating Incomes, Resolving Conflicts
One of the effects of the war against Daesh is that millions of IDPs and returnees in northern Iraq now reside in overburdened host communities in the villages that managed to escape complete destruction. Living together is difficult, and women—already suffering social disadvantages—are hit particularly hard by the prevailing insecurity. Cash-for-work programmes to repair the villages provide incomes, while dialogue forums are intended to help resolve conflicts. Women receive training on nutrition and hygiene issues and form producers’ groups to undertake resource-efficient agriculture.
