Cash for Work as a Catalyst for the Economy
With war and conflict now abating, many refugees in north-western Iraq are returning to their villages. However, the infrastructure here has been largely destroyed. Welthungerhilfe is strengthening the local economy by hiring labourers to undertake repair work, creating training positions, and supporting small businesses through grants. Building on experience gained from delivering a previous project, a new mentoring programme has now been instituted to offer better support to participants.
