Iraq
Finally Growing Vegetables Again
Following the defeat of IS, displaced people are returning to their homes in north-eastern Iraq in droves - many jobless and in debt. Despite its extreme instability, Iraq is actually not all that poor, and this project makes it possible for women and the elderly, to build new lives for themselves by planting vegetable gardens, gaining access to bread ovens, and receiving nutritional counselling, if they so desire. Training in keeping livestock, including small animals, is also offered. Project’s overarching goal is to rehabilitate or restructure the area’s agricultural infrastructure.
